Cortland’s Garage is more than a sleek Bucktown bar with popular daily specials.
The hip exposed brick walls and sleek dark wood paneling might distract clientele from this spot’s stellar menu, but not for long. Cortland’s assortment of elaborately dressed burgers is mouth-watering enough to draw the attention of every palate in the room, especially the locals'—each delectably dressed burger is named for a different Chicago street. Their namesake burger is decked with melted white Cheddar, avocado, smoked bacon, and crispy onion strings. Punctuated by the rich flavor of smoked Gouda, the original Ashland Avenue burger is marinated in their signature Garage BBQ. The Taylor Street burger is Italian-seasoned, ornamented with Provolone cheese, roasted red peppers, and pesto mayo on a ciabatta bun, and served with Parmesan fries. Of course, there are other delicious non-burger American food dishes packing this spot with satisfied patrons—plates like the Classic Club, the Cobb Salad, or the famous Ice Cream Sandwich (vanilla and Nutella sandwiched between two chocolate chip waffles and topped with hot fudge). Cortland’s Garage earns the high esteem with which locals treat it; they even invite patrons to name build-your-own burgers after their own streets.
