Housed in a recently restored 19th century theatre in the heart of Pilsen is Ristorante Al Teatro, an Old World pizzeria specializing in wood-fired pizzas, homemade gelatos, and house-roasted European coffees.
Ristorante Al Teatro is one of Chicago’s most unique new Italian restaurants and the most recent creation of Owner Dominick Geraci, who has already made his mark on Chicago’s tastebuds at Primo Specialty Foods and Caffe Gelato in Wicker Park. Geraci has recently turned his attention to restoring the incredible Thalia Hall, and as part of the restoration, created a spectacular restaurant that highlights the building’s Old World charm. First built in 1892 by Czech immigrants, Thalia Hall has been lovingly restored by Geraci to its former glory as an elegant turn-of-the-century café featuring marble countertops, embossed tin ceilings, and gorgeous chandeliers. Executive Chef Maurizio Fonda ignites the kitchen, creating award-winning calzones and gourmet pizzas, along with an extensive menu highlighting traditional Italian specialties.
